Cornell University ranked 219th among 261 schools in a national assessment of campus free speech, according to 14850 Today.
The 2027 College Free Speech Rankings, which weigh campus policy choices and student responses, gave Cornell a score of 55.5 out of 100 and an F, based in part on responses from 289 undergraduates.
Cornell rose eight places and gained 2.5 points from last year but retained its failing grade.
The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression placed Cornell among the bottom 25 schools for students’ comfort expressing ideas and confidence in administrative support.
Half of Cornell students surveyed said they self-censored on campus at least once or twice a month.
