Lyons man charged with promoting prison contraband at Wayne County Jail

A Lyons man faces a misdemeanor charge after deputies said he tried to bring contraband from an onsite medical facility to his cell at the Wayne County Jail.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said Robert D. Detaeye, 28, of Water Street, was charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband following an investigation into the Jan. 15 incident.

Detaeye was arrested and taken to the Sheriff’s Office for processing before being released on an appearance ticket, according to the agency.

He is scheduled to appear in Lyons Town Court at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 6.
