A Marion man was arrested after deputies said he hit a victim and knocked a phone from the victim's hand during a domestic incident while the victim was holding a child.
Luke Tennity, 33, was charged following an investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office in the town of Marion. The arrest was reported Sept. 1.
Deputies alleged Tennity hit the victim and then slapped away the victim's phone as the person tried to seek police assistance. The Sheriff's Office said the victim was holding a child at the time of the incident.
Tennity was charged with second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child and obstruction of governmental administration, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The release did not identify the victim or the child. It also did not say whether anyone required medical treatment after the incident.
Deputies took Tennity to the Wayne County Jail after his arrest. The Sheriff's Office said he was being held for centralized arraignment before the presiding judge.
Tennity is scheduled to appear in Marion Town Court at a later date to answer the charges. The Sheriff's Office did not provide a specific court date in the release.
Deputy N. Wagner was listed as the investigating officer. The case was recorded by the Sheriff's Office as job No. 26-32716.
