Hochul grants pardons to six people

Gov. Kathy Hochul granted pardons to six people Friday, bringing the number of clemency grants issued during her administration to 145.

The governor's office said the recipients completed their sentences years ago, remained crime-free for significant periods and continued to face consequences from their convictions.

The pardons went to Sae Joon Park, Kile Jackson, Angela Walder-Tuckett, Heriberto Atiles, Keisy Guerrero Mariano and Paul Koopman. Their convictions, dating from 1986 to 2015, included drug possession, firearm possession, assault, bail jumping and driving while intoxicated.

Hochul has issued 125 pardons and 20 commutations since taking office. She said the six recipients demonstrated rehabilitation and made positive contributions to their communities.

The governor's office said it has added staff, created a clemency advisory panel and begun sending regular status letters to applicants. An updated online hub includes application forms and guidance on submitting supporting information.
