A Saranac Lake man pleaded guilty Aug. 4 to eight federal counts of sexual exploitation of children after admitting he abused three children and recorded the abuse over a period of nearly four years, federal prosecutors said.
William Strack II, 37, faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life when U.S. District Judge Anne M. Nardacci sentences him Dec. 2. He also faces a fine of up to $250,000, supervised release ranging from five years to life, sex offender registration and restitution to the victims.
Strack admitted the abuse occurred between January 2022 and October 2025. Authorities said another minor found images and videos on Strack's phone involving two 11-year-old girls and a 15-year-old girl, then reported him to Saranac Lake police.
Police arrested Strack on Oct. 14, 2025, and a federal grand jury indicted him the following month. He has remained in custody since his arrest.
Homeland Security Investigations led the federal investigation with help from New York State Police and the Saranac Lake Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carling Dunham is prosecuting the case.
