Benjamin Farley has been appointed assistant principal at Geneva High School, the Geneva City School District announced Tuesday.
Farley joins the district from the Rochester City School District, where he worked as an English for Speakers of Other Languages and bilingual social studies teacher. He also supported teachers with instructional practices, classroom management and the use of student data.
Farley previously taught social studies across the greater Western New York region and has experience working with multilingual students and their families.
Superintendent Bo Wright said Farley's instructional background and focus on relationships stood out during the interview process. Farley will join Principal Matt Heath and Assistant Principal Kylie Smith at the high school.
Before entering education, Farley served in the U.S. Navy from 2014 to 2017 as a cryptological technician, providing intelligence and technical support to multiple commands.
Farley earned bachelor's degrees in education and history and a master's degree in teaching English to speakers of other languages from SUNY Fredonia. He also completed an advanced certificate in school building and district leadership at SUNY Brockport.
