The Buffalo Bills appear to have found their replacement for David Edwards at left guard.
According to ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg, Alec Anderson has won Buffalo’s competition for the starting job heading into the 2026 season, beating out veteran Austin Corbett.
The Bills entered training camp needing to fill the vacancy after Edwards departed in free agency. Corbett brought significantly more experience to the competition after signing a one-year contract with Buffalo in late March. The former 33rd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft has appeared in 101 games, including the postseason.
Anderson, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to take on the largest role of his NFL career.
The 26-year-old joined the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA in 2022 and spent his first two seasons developing on the practice squad. He made his regular-season debut in 2024, primarily serving as an extra blocker in jumbo packages before continuing in a similar role during the 2025 season.
Despite spending two years on Buffalo’s active roster, Anderson has yet to play more than 350 snaps in a season, including the postseason. That could change significantly in 2026 if he holds onto the starting job.
The Bills showed confidence in Anderson before free agency even began, signing him to a one-year contract extension worth $2.5 million in February.
