Gardner-Johnson was ejected late in the first half after spitting toward Raiders tight end Brock Bowers and center Tyler Linderbaum following an exchange between players.

The league announced Monday that Gardner-Johnson violated its rules regarding unsportsmanlike conduct, resulting in the one-game suspension.

Unless he successfully appeals, Gardner-Johnson will miss Buffalo’s Week 8 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens following the team’s bye week.

Any appeal would be reviewed by one of four hearing officers jointly appointed by the NFL and NFL Players Association.
