Samsung Galaxy Users Report Battery Drain and Overheating After Installing the Latest Software Update

Owners of Samsung Galaxy phones have been complaining about their smartphones overheating and battery draining after the latest software update. Some users have taken to community forums and social media to complain that some devices are draining battery faster than they should, even when they’re not running demanding apps.

The problem seems to have started immediately after the update was installed. Many users have noticed that their phones are running much hotter now, even when doing normal things like surfing the web, watching videos, reading messages or using the camera. Some users reported that the battery percentage drops fast when the device is idle.

Samsung’s Latest Update Sparks Battery Drain Complaints

The new Samsung software update was intended to enhance security, system stability and overall performance. But some Galaxy owners say it has created new power management problems.

Some users have reported that their phones are using more power in the background. This may be because applications are being re-optimized after an update, background services are restarting, or system files are being re-indexed.

Major updates can mean your smartphone is running processes in the background that may drain your battery for a little bit. In many cases performance is back to normal in a day or two. But some users say the problem has been going on longer than they expected.

Galaxy phone heats up during use

Heating Problems = Another problem Samsung Galaxy users are talking about. Users complain that their devices get hot when charging, using mobile data, shooting videos or opening multiple apps.

Smartphones get hot when you play games, charge quickly, make video calls, navigate and do other heavy operations. The newer complaints are different, with users saying that the temperature rises when using the device for basic daily use.

The temperature increase of the device can make the battery consume faster too. More background work for the processor means more power use, more heat generated. Perhaps that’s why people are experiencing both battery drain and overheating at the same time.

Background apps may be using more power

Some apps may not work correctly right away after a software update. An application that has no support can crash, restart, request more system resources and run in the background over and over.

If you have a Galaxy and are having battery issues, you can go into your battery settings and see what apps are using the most battery. For better performance, try to update all apps from Google Play Store and Galaxy Store.

Clearing out unnecessary background activity may also be helped along by restarting your phone. Some users may experience better battery life by removing temporary cache files or deleting apps that started to consume excessive power following the update.

Overheating worsens charging habits

Charging conditions can also affect the temperature of the device. Using the phone with fast charger can add extra heat . This is made worse by thick phone cases, broken cables, unofficial chargers and sunlight.

When charging, keep the device on a cool, ventilated surface. Avoid heavy gaming, video recording and navigation if the phone is already abnormally warm to touch.

If the phone is getting very hot, disconnect the charger and allow the phone to cool down naturally. Do not place the telephone in a refrigerator or in very cold air. Internal parts could be damaged by temperature shocks.
