2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 Luxury Features and Expected Upgrades Explained

2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 Luxury Features and Expected Upgrades Explained

The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 will likely remain one of the most luxurious full-size SUVs in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. Built for buyers who want the space and road presence of an SUV combined with the comfort of a premium limousine, the Maybach GLS offers a strong emphasis on rear seat luxury, advanced technology and refined performance.

The full specs of the 2027 model are yet to be officially confirmed but the next generation is expected to follow the formula of the current GLS 680. Expect new styling cues, better cabin tech, more ways to personalise and more refined driver-assist features.

Premium exterior styling

The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 will probably continue to be bold and elegant. The signature Maybach grille, chrome detailing, big alloy wheels and two-tone paint options should remain key design elements.

Mercedes could also introduce new wheels, revised headlights and minor changes to the front and rear bumpers. Such changes would help freshen up the SUV’s look without changing its instantly recognisable Maybach identity.

Automated running boards also likely will remain available. These steps extend as the doors open, making it easier for passengers to get into the cabin and also helping to add to the luxury look of the vehicle.

First Class Comfort Inside

Interior comfort will still be one of the biggest reasons to choose the Maybach GLS 680. The cabin should be fitted with high quality leather, real wood trim, metal accents and well finished surfaces throughout.

Rear passengers will probably get the most attention. Optional executive style seats are available with heating, ventilation and massage functions, plus powered adjustment and reclining support. For those who want the most comfort and personal space, a four-seat cabin arrangement could carry on.

Other features might be folding tables, refrigerated storage, premium pillows, motorised shades for the windows and soft, mood lighting. Mercedes could also improve the cabin insulation to cut wind and road noise.

The Latest in Tech and Entertainment

The 2027 model should have an upgraded version of Mercedes-Benz’s infotainment system. A big central display, digital dash, wireless smartphone connectivity, navigation and voice controls should still be standard or widely available.

Rear-seat entertainment screens could be equipped with faster software and improved displays. And passengers would also be able to control climate settings, seat functions, lighting and media directly from the rear cabin.

A Burmester audio system is also expected to remain a premium feature, giving the SUV a theater-like listening experience.

Performance & Ride Quality

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 will likely retain the high-performance twin-turbo V8 and all-wheel drive. It won’t be all about speed, but smooth acceleration and quiet operation.

A sophisticated air suspension system should keep the SUV comfortable on rough roads. Mercedes could also tweak the suspension software to restrict body movement and deliver an even calmer ride for the rear passengers.

Different driving modes are also expected that will enable the driver to adjust the steering, suspension, throttle response and comfort settings.

Driver-assistance and safety features

The 2027 GLS 680 is expected to come with safety features including adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and parking assist.

Mercedes could improve its camera and sensor systems to make highway driving support and low-speed manoeuvring better. The large SUV should be easier to control in busy areas with a surround-view camera and automated parking technology.

Mercedes-Benz will confirm the final list of upgrades, pricing and availability with its official announcement.
