A federal class action lawsuit accuses Mirbeau Inn & Spa of advertising hotel rooms at artificially low rates before adding mandatory fees later in the booking process, according to The Citizen.
The complaint, filed in February, seeks to represent more than 100 customers in New York and Massachusetts and says the disputed amount exceeds $5 million.
The plaintiffs allege Mirbeau’s pricing practices violate consumer protection laws by making the full cost difficult to see until checkout.
Mirbeau denied the allegations and said the case was brought by a former guest who had been banned from one of its properties.
The lawsuit does not directly involve Mirbeau’s Skaneateles location and seeks damages, restitution and a court order barring the alleged practices.
