Lansing will use $11,000 in new transportation grants to study safety, design and signage for its planned Lansing Greenway trail network, according to The Tompkins Weekly.
The Town Board accepted two grants from the Ithaca-Tompkins County Transportation Council during its June 17 meeting.
The proposed multi-use trail would connect key community destinations, including Town Hall, Lansing schools, senior housing, apartments, businesses, the library and restaurants.
A $6,000 grant will fund a design and liability study for Greenway footpaths, including trail standards, surface options and safety issues.
A second $5,000 grant will support a wayfinding and signage study, including design work and cost estimates.
Both studies must be completed by the end of March 2027 as Lansing continues planning, outreach and funding work for the broader trail system.
