Community Bank gift supports Huntington Living Center courtyard work

Community Bank has donated $5,000 to the Finger Lakes Health Foundation to help renovate the resident courtyard at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo.

The gift will support work on a courtyard used by residents, visitors and staff at the 160-bed skilled nursing facility at 369 East Main St.

Huntington Living Center is one of four adult long-term care residences in the University of Rochester Finger Lakes Health system. The facility includes four 40-bed units on three floors and a Special Needs Unit for residents with Alzheimer's disease and other dementia-related diagnoses.

The courtyard is centered around a gazebo and includes walking paths lined with plants and flowers, along with a covered pavilion. Renovations are expected to begin this month.

The project is also being supported by the all-volunteer Taylor Brown Auxiliary, which donated $18,000 in December.

William S. Garrity, Finger Lakes Health's vice president of long-term care, said Community Bank and the auxiliary understand the importance of providing a caring and safe local home for older adults and others who need extra help.

"Our sincere thanks to all who are helping to make the renovation of the courtyard possible," Garrity said.

Finger Lakes Health said Huntington Living Center offers skilled nursing and rehabilitative services through a team that includes physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers, activities staff and nutritional services staff.
