A new Geneva festival will celebrate Castle Creek with music, environmental education and community activities at Brook Street Park later this summer.
The first Castle Creek Festival is scheduled for noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Brook Street Park in Geneva. Organizers said the free event was developed by a local planning committee that chose sustainability as a central theme.
The festival will include educational kiosks from organizations focused on creek preservation, stream restoration, regional water quality, open space initiatives, stormwater management and sustainability education.
The music schedule includes Mark Barrett from noon to 1 p.m.; Kit Fallon and Jess Youngquest from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; Michael Gonzalez from 3 to 4 p.m.; and Cool Club and the Lipker Sisters from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Organizers said visitors are encouraged to picnic at the event, though some food and beverages will be available for purchase. Alcohol, marijuana, smoking and vaping will not be allowed.
ADA accessibility will be available. Eventgoers are encouraged to walk or bike because parking will be limited, with construction activity also taking place in the neighborhood.
