Residents of several apartments at a Canandaigua housing complex were temporarily evacuated early Sunday after reports of a natural gas odor.
The City of Canandaigua Fire Department said crews were called to Camelot Court around 12:30 a.m. after the odor was reported.
Firefighters determined the issue was isolated to a block of eight apartment units. Residents were evacuated as a precaution while crews worked to secure the gas supply and investigate the source of the odor.
NYSEG and RG&E responded to secure additional utilities and help isolate the problem, officials said.
Canandaigua Emergency Squad, Canandaigua Police Department and Ontario County 911 also assisted at the scene.
Officials said there was a brief power interruption while utility crews investigated. The incident was brought under control without further complications, and residents were expected to return once crews completed their work.
Fire officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the overnight response.
