Riverbend Events, a rustic event venue along the Seneca River in Weedsport, will open its doors to the public next month for an open house showcasing the property and the ongoing work that has transformed it into a destination for weddings and special events, according to reporting by Weedsport Community News.
The free open house is scheduled for July 12 from noon to 3 p.m. at the venue, located at 9425 State Route 34. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the property, meet local vendors, sample food and desserts, and learn more about the venue’s event offerings. A cash bar will also be available.
Owners Mandy Walts and Jim Pyke purchased the property in 2019 and spent years developing the site into a riverside event venue despite challenges that included the pandemic, severe weather and seasonal flooding. The venue now features a large event tent capable of hosting up to 250 guests, rustic cabins for overnight stays, sunflower fields, walking trails and a growing collection of amenities designed for weddings, reunions and other celebrations.
The property also includes a dedicated catering cabin equipped with refrigeration, sinks and hand-washing facilities, while additional cabins and indoor plumbing improvements are planned for future phases of development. Walts has personally overseen many of the venue’s projects, including site improvements and restoration work throughout the property.
Riverbend Events currently has six weddings scheduled this year, with its first wedding of the season taking place this weekend. Venue staff provide event setup, parking assistance, bartending and transportation services using golf carts that help guests navigate the expansive riverside grounds.
The July open house will also feature local DJs, photographers, caterers and other event professionals, giving prospective clients a chance to explore options for future weddings, graduations, showers, reunions and private gatherings.
