Owasco allows controversial home project to go forward

A disputed barn-style home can keep rising along Owasco Road despite objections from nearby residents, according to The Citizen.

Neighbors challenged the building permit for the two-story structure, arguing it doesn’t fit the character of the surrounding neighborhood and that the town provided no advance notice. After reviewing the complaints, the Owasco Zoning Board of Appeals upheld the permit and allowed construction to continue.

Town officials said the project meets all zoning and building code requirements and noted that Owasco, like most New York municipalities, does not regulate architectural style. The property owner followed the required approval process, while residents exercised their right to appeal the permit.
