A welfare check on two people found sleeping in a vehicle in the Town of Lyons led to the arrest of a Town of Stanley man and a Rochester woman after deputies allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia inside the car.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 10:15 a.m. Saturday to Lawrence Street after receiving a 911 call about individuals who had reportedly been sleeping in a parked vehicle for several hours.
According to investigators, deputies woke the occupants and asked them to get out of the vehicle as part of the investigation. When 29-year-old Jake Hershey exited the car, deputies allegedly observed items associated with drug use. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up several glass pipes and small baggies containing residue believed to be from controlled substances.
Deputies said 38-year-old Jessica Alamond initially provided a false name, delaying efforts to confirm her identity. Authorities later determined her identity and discovered she was wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Town of Greece.
Hershey was charged with second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and multiple traffic violations. Alamond was charged with second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and second-degree obstructing governmental administration before being turned over to Greece police on the warrant.
Both were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to answer the charges in Lyons Town Court at a later date.
