Theatre444 is preparing to launch another production in its milestone season, this time bringing the emotionally charged musical “Dogfight” to the stage in Geneva later this summer.
The award-winning musical, written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul with a book by Peter Duchan, is based on the 1991 Warner Bros. film and has earned critical acclaim for its mix of romance, heartbreak and social commentary. The production won the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical and has been praised by critics for its emotional depth and score.
Auditions for the production will be held June 22 and 23. Performers are asked to prepare 24 bars of a traditional musical theater song and bring sheet music or accompaniment. A pianist will be provided.

Set on Nov. 21, 1963, “Dogfight” follows three young Marines spending one final night out before deployment to Southeast Asia. The story centers on Corporal Eddie Birdlace and Rose, an awkward but idealistic waitress who becomes part of a cruel bet among the Marines. As the night unfolds, Rose challenges Birdlace’s worldview and changes the course of both their lives.
Performances are scheduled for Aug. 21-29 at the Geneva Community Center, located at 160 Carter Road in Geneva.
