A Town of Savannah man was jailed early Saturday after Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said they found suspected crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a switchblade knife during a traffic stop in the Town of Huron.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested Micheal Welch around 2 a.m. May 9 following the stop. Investigators said Welch was allegedly driving with a suspended license at the time deputies pulled him over.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies discovered suspected crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a switchblade knife during the investigation.
Welch was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, unlicensed operation, and failure to stop at a stop sign.
Authorities said Welch was transported to the Wayne County Jail to await centralized arraignment Saturday morning.
