Looking to add a new companion to your home?
Each week, FingerLakes1.com partners with the Humane Society of Yates County to highlight local animals in need of a loving home. This week’s featured pets offer two strong personalities — one confident feline who wants to rule the house, and one smart, energetic dog looking for an active home where she can be the center of attention.

Noleen
At 5 years old, Noleen has perfected the art of being fabulous — and she knows it. This beautiful cat is looking for a home where she can truly shine as the one and only feline queen of the castle. Shelter staff say Noleen prefers not to share her spotlight with other cats and would be happiest soaking up all the love, attention, and admiration for herself. She’s confident, full of personality, and enjoys being involved in whatever her people are doing, whether that means lounging nearby like royalty, asking for attention, or supervising the household. If you’re looking for a cat with charm, confidence, and plenty of personality, Noleen could be the perfect fit.
Maura
Maura is a 2.5-year-old pit bull mix who brings both brains and energy to the table. Weighing just under 60 pounds, she’s athletic, attentive, and already well-trained, with a long list of commands under her belt including sit, down, wait, shake, touch, and fetch. She thrives on attention and prefers to be the center of it. Because of that, Maura would do best as the only pet in an adult-only home where she can fully claim her space and bond closely with her people. She’s a smart, driven dog who will do best with someone ready to match her energy and continue building on her training. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s both active and highly trainable, Maura could be the right fit.
