A bomb threat forced the evacuation of the Skaneateles Community Center on Wednesday, though police later determined there was no danger to the public.
Skaneateles police said a “suspicious” email was sent to staff around 10:15 a.m., prompting an immediate response and precautionary evacuation of the building.
Authorities said children were not inside the facility at the time and were instead at nearby Austin Park. As a precaution, they were moved to State Street Elementary School across the street.
New York State Police K9 units searched the property and did not locate any explosive devices. Officials later confirmed the threat was unfounded.
Police said there is no identifiable threat to public safety and that the investigation remains ongoing.
