The William Smith Herons lacrosse team defeated the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers, 19-6, on Friday evening at Urick Stadium, improving to 13-2 overall and remaining unbeaten in Liberty League play at 9-0. The dominant win was highlighted by juniors Mia Falco and Katie Grottenthaler each reaching 100 career points, marking a milestone performance in a game the Herons controlled from start to finish.

William Smith set the tone early, racing out to a 5-0 lead in the opening minutes and never looking back. First-year Cat Colvin led the offense with six points on three goals and three assists, while Kira Fulton added a season-high five points, including four goals. Falco contributed four points with two goals and two assists, and Grottenthaler added a pair of goals to reach her milestone. The Herons’ depth was evident throughout, with multiple players contributing as they built a commanding halftime lead and extended it in the second half.
The Herons dominated across the stat sheet, holding a 38-16 advantage in shots and controlling possession with a 16-9 edge in draw controls. Ally Orquiola led that effort with five draw controls, while Delaney Cassidy and Lauren Collins added three each. Defensively, Caitie Baker recorded three caused turnovers, and Casey Fiore anchored the unit in goal with five saves while also contributing on the ground.
William Smith maintained pressure throughout, using a sustained scoring run spanning the first and second halves to put the game out of reach. The balanced attack and strong defensive effort kept RPI from gaining any momentum.
William Smith will return to action on Saturday, April 18 at 3 p.m. when it hosts Union at Urick Stadium.
