Syracuse women’s lacrosse sees 12-game win streak end in loss to Boston College

The Syracuse Orange women’s lacrosse team fell to the Boston College, 7-4, on Thursday night at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, as its 12-game win streak came to an end in the regular-season finale. Syracuse finished the regular season 12-4 overall and 7-3 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, while Boston College improved to 9-6 and 6-4 in league action.

Syracuse struggled to find consistent offense against Boston College goalkeeper Shea Dolce, who recorded eight saves and limited the Orange to just four goals. The Eagles built an early lead, scoring twice in the opening minutes before Caroline Trinkaus put Syracuse on the board late in the first quarter. Mackenzie Rich added an early second-quarter goal to cut the deficit to one, but Boston College answered and carried a 4-2 advantage into halftime. Molly Guzik brought Syracuse within one again early in the third, but the Orange could not sustain momentum as the Eagles continued to respond.

Bri Peters trimmed the deficit to 5-4 just seconds into the fourth quarter, giving Syracuse a chance to complete the comeback. However, that would be the final goal for the Orange, as Boston College controlled the closing minutes and added two insurance goals. Daniella Guyette kept Syracuse within striking distance with six saves in goal, but the offense was unable to generate the necessary push late.

The loss marked Syracuse’s first defeat since early in the season and halted one of the longest winning streaks in the country.
