Thirteen players scored as the No. 7 William Smith Herons rolled to a 24-2 victory over Bard Raptors in a Liberty League matchup on Saturday afternoon.
William Smith (12-1, 8-0) overwhelmed Bard from the start, scoring eight goals in the first quarter and building a 12-1 halftime lead. The Herons added a 6-0 run in the third to put the game out of reach.
First-year Katie Hutchinson led the offense with a career-high six points on four goals and two assists. Abigail Bradley, Ava Keiser and Amanda Leone each recorded hat tricks, while Madeline Packard and Alexandra Tapia added two goals apiece.
The Herons dominated statistically, outshooting Bard 48-2 and controlling 24 of 28 draws. William Smith also held a 20-11 edge in ground balls and was perfect on clearing attempts (9-for-9).
Defensively, William Smith limited Bard to just two shots over 60 minutes. Kira Fulton led the effort with three caused turnovers, while Iris Polly and Katey Connolly each recorded seven draw controls and three ground balls. Casey Fiore and Samantha Edwards split time in goal to secure the win.
Bard (1-9, 0-6) got goals from Kayla Francis and Gwendolyn Jamison, while goalkeeper Lexie Blackburn made 14 saves.
William Smith continues its road swing on Sunday against Wesleyan Cardinals, with opening draw scheduled for 2 p.m.
