Teen killed in Route 414 crash identified as North Seneca Ambulance volunteer

A fatal crash in Seneca County on Friday claimed the life of a 16-year-old Clyde resident who was also a volunteer with North Seneca Ambulance, linking a tragic accident with the loss of a young member of the local emergency services community.

State police said the crash occurred around 8:55 a.m. on State Route 414 in the town of Tyre, when the teen’s southbound vehicle crossed into the northbound lane on a curve and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. The truck driver, a 48-year-old Romulus man, was not injured.

North Seneca Ambulance later identified the teen as Jaiden Zimmerman, describing him as a dedicated volunteer and EMT student who was traveling to a scheduled clinical shift at the time of the crash. Officials said he was driving his personal vehicle and was not operating or riding in an ambulance.

Zimmerman was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. State police said the tractor-trailer driver attempted to avoid the collision and showed no signs of impairment.

In a statement, North Seneca Ambulance said Zimmerman gave “countless hours” to the agency and was known for his compassion and commitment to helping others. His loss, officials said, is deeply felt across the organization and the broader community.

The crash remains under investigation.
