Ontario County officials have pushed back a key public presentation on the county’s updated solid waste management plan, giving residents more time to review and weigh in on the proposal.
The presentation, originally scheduled for April 9, will now take place April 23 at 6 p.m. at the Phelps Community Center, according to the county’s Department of Sustainability and Solid Waste Management.
The delay comes as the county continues a second public comment period on the draft Local Solid Waste Management Plan, which is open through May 4. The plan outlines a 10-year framework for handling waste across the county, including goals for reducing overall waste and tracking progress in line with state requirements.
County leaders first released the draft plan in October 2025, followed by an initial round of public feedback. The proposal is currently under review by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Officials say the updated plan is intended to guide how Ontario County manages solid waste in an environmentally responsible and cost-effective way, while supporting broader recycling and waste reduction efforts.
Residents and stakeholders can review the draft plan and submit comments online ahead of the April 23 presentation, where additional feedback will also be accepted in person.
