The change follows public pressure and renewed concern over traffic near Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The city plans a pilot program with beacons at three crossings, along with ideas like lowering the speed limit and restricting parking to improve visibility.
Officials say the project could cost up to $25,000 but may be reimbursed by the state. City leaders now appear ready to move forward without a formal vote.
