William Smith lacrosse delivered a complete performance in a 16-0 shutout win over Clarkson on Friday evening, improving to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in Liberty League play.
The Herons controlled the game from the opening draw, scoring just 33 seconds in and building a 6-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. William Smith continued to pour it on in the second, adding five more goals to take an 11-0 advantage into halftime.
Mia Falco led a balanced offensive attack with six points on three goals and three assists. Taryn Luzi, Grace Rund and Ava Keiser each recorded multi-goal games, while Kaia Swamp added three assists. Eleven different players scored for the Herons.
William Smith maintained control in the second half, adding three goals in the third quarter and two more in the fourth to complete the shutout. Casey Fiore anchored the defense, stopping all seven shots she faced to secure the team’s first shutout since April 20.
The Herons dominated key categories, holding a 24-12 edge in shots and a 19-7 advantage in shots on goal. William Smith also controlled the draw circle, 14-4, and forced consistent pressure defensively with multiple caused turnovers from Maeve Barrins and Charlotte Crocker.
Kira Fulton extended her point streak to 21 consecutive games in the win.
William Smith returns to action Saturday, March 21 on the road against St. Lawrence. Opening draw is scheduled for 3 p.m.
