Employees across from the Seneca Meadows landfill say the smell is getting worse, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Waterloo Container officials told the Seneca Falls Town Board that workers report headaches, nausea and throat irritation linked to landfill gas odors.
The company installed air monitors to track hydrogen sulfide and other pollutants. Officials say readings have exceeded health guidelines and disrupted work at the wine bottle distribution business.
Waterloo Container urged town leaders to enforce stronger odor controls and set clear standards. Seneca Meadows responded that it meets or exceeds all state and federal environmental regulations.
