Syracuse women’s lacrosse extended its win streak to four games with a victory over Virginia Tech on Friday night at the JMA Wireless Dome. The No. 15 Orange improved to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in ACC play with the win.
Molly Guzik led Syracuse with four goals, recording her third hat trick in the last four games. Ashlee Volpe added four points with two goals and two assists, while Emma Muchnick and Caroline Trinkaus each scored twice.

Syracuse built an early advantage, scoring three times in the opening three minutes. Muchnick opened the scoring before Guzik added two quick goals. Virginia Tech responded with a goal, but Trinkaus scored late in the first quarter to give the Orange a 4-1 lead.
Guzik extended the lead early in the second quarter to complete her hat trick and later scored again just before halftime on a hidden ball play set up by Volpe. Syracuse scored four goals in the second period to take an 8-1 lead into the break.
The Orange continued to control the game in the third quarter. Muchnick scored on a player-up opportunity, Trinkaus added a free-position goal and Volpe found the net to extend the lead to 11-1.
Syracuse added two more goals in the fourth quarter from sisters Ava Peers and Ella Peers. The goal marked Ella Peers’ first career goal and Ava Peers’ first as a member of the Orange.
Defensively, Syracuse held Virginia Tech to three goals for the second straight game. Coco Vandiver and Izzy Lahah each recorded three caused turnovers.
Syracuse travels to face No. 4 Northwestern on Thursday, March 12, with the opening draw scheduled for 8 p.m.
