Democrats in Ontario County raised more than $22,000 during a fundraising event in Canandaigua last week.
The Ontario County Democratic Committee hosted its “Season of Solidarity” fundraiser at Rio Tomatlan, drawing donors from across New York State for an evening of food, drinks and live music.
A five-piece band, The Rehabaneros, performed classic rock while attendees gathered to support local Democratic campaigns.
Thomas White, treasurer of the Ontario County Democratic Committee and chair of the fundraising team, said the event followed a strong election year for local Democrats.
“There was a palpable excitement and energy in the room, as dedicated donors from across New York State gathered to celebrate our wins and prepare to fight for Democracy and justice,” White said.
White said the committee is continuing to build financial support for candidates after Democrats won a historic number of local offices in Ontario County in 2025.
Local races have taken on broader significance in recent years, as national political conflicts increasingly affect state and local governments, organizers said.
John Hurley, chair of the Ontario County Democratic Committee, said fundraising efforts play a direct role in helping candidates run competitive campaigns.
“Last November, Ontario County experienced the nation-wide blue wave because Democrats stepped up to run for office and we were able to help finance their campaigns,” Hurley said. “Proceeds from our fundraisers have a direct effect on our elections; we are incredibly grateful to those who contribute to our candidates’ successes.”
