A theft investigation at a Springport business led to charges against two Auburn residents.
Lawrence Werts, 57, and Billie Tassone-Werts, 52, were arrested March 3 following a Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office investigation into reported larcenies on Feb. 17 and Feb. 19.
Deputies said they responded Feb. 23 to a business in the Town of Springport for a larceny complaint.
Investigators determined that Werts and Tassone-Werts acted together in conduct that constituted petit larceny, according to the sheriff’s office.
Both were charged with two counts of conspiracy in the sixth degree, a misdemeanor, and two counts of petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
Authorities said the pair turned themselves in at the Public Safety Building on March 3. Deputies issued appearance tickets directing them to appear in Springport Town Court on March 11 at 4 p.m.
