Police flooded an apartment complex in Canandaigua Tuesday evening after a 911 caller reported being shot and possibly held hostage.
Officers from the Canandaigua Police Department responded around 6:50 p.m. to Lakeside Village Apartments on Jefferson Avenue. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police also responded.
Authorities said the details provided by the caller prompted a large police presence in the area.
After investigating, officers determined the incident was related to a mental health situation.
Police said the matter was resolved peacefully around 7:35 p.m. The residents involved were found to be safe and no injuries were reported.
Officials said there was no immediate danger to the surrounding community.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
