Hobart lacrosse rallies before falling to Robert Morris in overtime, drops fourth straight

Hobart lacrosse erased a four-goal halftime deficit and forced overtime but fell 8-7 to Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon at Urick Stadium after the Colonials scored the game winner 1:47 into the extra period.

Robert Morris built a 7-3 halftime lead behind a strong second quarter before Hobart’s defense held the visitors scoreless over the final two periods of regulation. The Statesmen gradually rallied, highlighted by two third-quarter goals from Cade Dino, who finished with a team-high two unassisted goals.

Hobart continued to close the gap in the fourth quarter as first-year midfielder Brandon Penn scored his first collegiate goal with 2:29 remaining. David Peterkin tied the game with 31.8 seconds left in regulation, finishing with one goal and one assist.

Defensively, Nickolas Sotiropoulos led Hobart with a game-high three caused turnovers, while Julian Race, Tyler Cavo and Colman Craft each added two. First-year goalkeeper Michael Johnson made nine saves as the Statesmen forced overtime in a game featuring 40 combined turnovers and 14 penalties.

Robert Morris regained possession off the opening overtime faceoff before Joel McCormick scored the decisive goal off an assist from Graeme MacLennan. Dylan Anderson and Ben Eck each scored twice for the Colonials, while Nate Fechter recorded 14 saves in goal.
