Syracuse women’s basketball dropped its final road game of the regular season Thursday night, falling 72-62 to Notre Dame. The Orange moved to 21-7 overall and 11-6 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

Laila Phelia led Syracuse with 23 points and three steals, marking her fifth 20-point performance of the season. Uche Izoje added her 12th double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Dominique Darius scored in double figures for the 19th time this year. Sophie Burrows and Izoje each recorded three blocks.
Syracuse trailed 21-18 after the first quarter and 37-32 at halftime following a late Notre Dame surge. The Orange responded in the third quarter, tightening defensively and holding the Fighting Irish without a field goal for more than four minutes. Phelia’s late basket gave Syracuse a brief lead before Notre Dame answered to take a 49-48 edge into the final period.
The teams traded baskets early in the fourth quarter, with Darius and Burrows contributing key scores. Phelia connected from three-point range and later converted three free throws in the closing minutes, but Syracuse was unable to overcome Notre Dame’s late push.
Syracuse will conclude the regular season Sunday, March 1, hosting Boston College at the JMA Wireless Dome. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
