The Canandaigua DMV will serve Ontario County residents only through Friday, March 6, as part of a statewide technology upgrade.
The temporary restriction follows a large-scale system update completed last week at DMV offices across New York, according to the Ontario County Clerkâs Office.
The state began the initial phase of a multi-year project on Feb. 18 to replace and modernize its aging technology systems.
Because of significant software changes, the Canandaigua office will continue limiting service to county residents through March 6. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
âThis statewide upgrade is a substantial project, and even though it is causing some short-term service disruptions, it will lead to a more reliable and efficient DMV system,â County Clerk Jean Chrisman said. âThank you to everyone for your patience and understanding during the transition.â
Officials said any updates will be posted on the County Clerkâs website and Facebook page.
