Two busted after traffic stop yield meth in Bath

A traffic stop on West Washington Street led to drug charges for two people after police said they found suspected methamphetamine in a vehicle.

Officers with the Village of Bath Police Department stopped a vehicle around 8:11 p.m. Feb. 16 after observing a violation of state Vehicle and Traffic Law.


During the investigation, officers said they located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine concealed underneath the operator of the vehicle. Police identified the driver as Melissa A. Olin, 46, of Avoca.

Further search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of an additional quantity of suspected methamphetamine in the possession of the passenger, identified as James L. Turner, 45, of Bath.

Olin was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Turner was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Both were processed and released on appearance tickets. They are scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
