A Carpenters tribute and an improv comedy night will take the stage at the Hangar Theatre in March as part of its In Flight Entertainment Series.
The Ithaca venue will host “Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters” on March 7 and “The Kaplan Cousins Improvise Again” on March 28.
Lisa Rock will headline the March 7 performance, bringing a four-octave range and a five-person band to perform Carpenters hits. Rock said the production is the longest-running Carpenters tribute in North America, with nearly 450 shows in 42 states over 16 years.
“The Music of the Carpenters” begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Hangar Theatre, 801 Taughannock Blvd. Tickets are $35 and will be available online and at the door.
The March 28 show features Ilan and Gavin Kaplan, who have performed improv together for eight years. Their act builds a full show from a single audience suggestion.
Members of Ithaca’s Third Place Theater will open the show.
“The Kaplan Cousins Improvise Again” starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students.
