Canandaigua forms trail planning group

Town officials in Canandaigua have created a new working group to help guide future trail development and improve connectivity across the community.

The Town of Canandaigua announced Feb. 26 that it has established a Trail Planning & Development Working Group to operate as a subgroup of the Parks & Recreation Committee.

The group will advise the committee and town staff on long-range planning and decision-making related to the town’s recreational trail system.

Officials said the town’s network of hiking trails, multi-use paths and ADA-accessible pathways continues to expand, prompting the need for more coordinated planning.

The working group will review existing and proposed trails, assist with connectivity and long-term visioning, and help update trail maps and public information. It will also provide input on maintenance priorities, accessibility improvements, potential land acquisitions or easements, and funding opportunities for trail projects. to our natural resources,” Parks & Recreation Director Greg Reynolds said.

Town officials are encouraging residents with experience or interest in trails, outdoor recreation, planning, conservation, engineering or community development to apply to serve on the group.
