Bargain hunters in Chili won’t have to wait much longer.
Goodwill of the Finger Lakes will open its first store in the town of Chili on Friday, April 10, at 3170 Chili Ave. The new location sits in the former Big Lots building and marks the organization’s eighth store in Monroe County.
Leaders will kick off the day with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Goodwill team members and local officials. Doors open at 9 a.m.
The first 100 shoppers age 16 and older will receive a $10 Goodwill gift card, while supplies last.
The new store gives residents another place to shop for affordable items and donate gently used goods. Goodwill reinvests store sales locally to support programs and services, including Goodwill Vision Services, 211/LIFE LINE, the Goodwill Learning Academy, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, workforce development and sustainability initiatives.
The Chili store becomes Goodwill’s 16th retail location across its 20-county footprint in upstate New York. The site spans more than 35,000 square feet between the sales floor and back-of-house operations.
As opening day approaches, Goodwill has started recruitment efforts. The organization plans to fill nearly 30 new positions. Interested applicants can apply at goodwillfingerlakes.org.
Jennifer Lake, president and CEO of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes, said the new site reflects the organization’s broader mission.
“Our mission is rooted in opportunity, and this site represents another important investment in expanding the pathways that power sustainable retail, support local job creation and fuel essential community programs that serve countless individuals across our region each year,” Lake said. “We’re excited to establish our first store in the town of Chili and reactivate this space in a new way — making it easier for residents to shop and donate for the good of our community and the environment. At Goodwill, this is where your things start new lives — where every donation becomes opportunity, every purchase supports possibility and together we create a cycle of impact that strengthens our community.”
After the grand opening, the store will operate from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Donation hours follow the same schedule.
Goodwill of the Finger Lakes, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Rochester, says it impacts more than 171,000 people each year through programs focused on sustainability, workforce development and job creation for individuals with barriers to employment.
