Two people accused of violating court orders now sit in the Cayuga County Jail after deputies say they contacted a protected person from behind bars.
Shantel M. Yaw, 57, of Locke, and Michael J. Yaw, 63, of Locke, both face charges of criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor under New York State Penal Law.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Shantel Yaw on February 20 in the Town of Sennett. Deputies opened an investigation in January after they received allegations that, while incarcerated in the Cayuga County Jail, she attempted to contact the protected party of a full stay-away order of protection. Investigators said the evidence established probable cause for the charge. Authorities arraigned her at CAP Court, and she remains held at the jail.
