Man charged with violating order of protection in Auburn

Police say a man violated a full stay-away order of protection after officers found him inside a Hoffman Street residence with the protected party.

Charles Williams was arrested February 19 after Auburn Police responded to a reported order of protection violation at a home on Hoffman Street, according to a media release from the Auburn Police Department.

Officers confirmed before arriving that a full stay-away order of protection was in place between Williams and the alleged victim. When patrol units reached the residence, they entered and located both Williams and the protected party inside.

Police detained Williams without issue. During their investigation, officers identified the female inside the bedroom with Williams as the protected party.

Williams was transported to Auburn Police Department headquarters for processing. He faces charges of Aggravated Family Offense, a felony, and Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor.

After processing, authorities transported Williams to the Cayuga County Jail for arraignment.
