Hobart hockey capped a perfect regular season Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 SUNYAC victory over Fredonia at The Cooler, finishing 25-0-0 overall and 18-0-0 in conference play.
Senior forward Dominic Schimizzi led the top-ranked Statesmen with a career-high four points, recording his first collegiate hat trick along with one assist. Conor Lally added three assists, while Chris Duclair and Logan Gotinsky each finished with a goal and an assist in the dominant win.

Hobart controlled play throughout, outshooting Fredonia 47-19 and converting twice on six power-play opportunities while holding the Blue Devils scoreless in three chances with the man advantage.
The Statesmen opened the scoring midway through the first period on Wilhelm Forsberg’s first collegiate goal before extending the lead in the second period with goals from Schimizzi and Gotinsky. Hobart broke the game open in the third period as Schimizzi scored back-to-back power-play goals to complete his hat trick. Duclair and Laurent Trepanier added late goals to seal the shutout victory.
Senior goaltender Damon Beaver stopped all 19 shots he faced, earning his fifth shutout of the season and the 24th of his career. The win marked Hobart’s 65th consecutive home victory and extended its overall winning streak to 31 games, matching a program record.
Hobart enters postseason play as the No. 1 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament and will host a quarterfinal matchup Wednesday, February 25, at The Cooler. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
