Gov. Kathy Hochul arrived in Washington as partisan tensions shadowed the National Governors Association meeting, according to Spectrum News 1. President Donald Trump reportedly uninvited two Democratic governors from a White House dinner, stirring controversy at the typically bipartisan event.
Hochul’s trip comes as the Trump administration trims federal funding for several New York projects. A federal ruling recently forced the release of nearly $130 million for the Gateway Tunnel, while wind energy and transit projects face uncertainty.
A state-focused think tank estimates Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill” could cost New York $8 billion in fiscal year 2027. The governors’ meeting runs through Saturday.
