Police chased a blue and green Polaris RZR UTV through the Village of Bath after the driver refused to stop and sped off down West Morris Street.
Officers tried to pull the vehicle over around 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 13. The driver kept going and led police on a pursuit that lasted about 10 minutes, according to the Village of Bath Police Department.
Police said the driver operated the UTV erratically during the chase. Officers ended the pursuit because of the operator’s reckless driving.
Investigators later responded to an address on State Route 53 in the Town of Bath. Officers spotted fresh UTV tire marks in the yard and located the vehicle.
Police made contact with the suspect, Chad Yeoman, 40, of Bath, and took him into custody.
Yeoman faces charges of unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operator, and operating a motor vehicle without a court-ordered interlock device. Police also charged him with 11 additional New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
Police issued appearance tickets. Yeoman is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
The Bath Police Department thanked the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for their assistance.
