Deputies say a suspected shoplifter tried to run through Eastview Mall before they caught him near Target.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested Daniel M. Belman, 26, of Rochester, at 1:30 p.m. February 13 at JCPenney. He faces charges of petit larceny and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.
Deputies say Belman concealed multiple pieces of merchandise inside a bookbag. The items carried a total value of $319.50.
Investigators say Belman failed to pay and passed all points of sale inside the store.
When deputies tried to stop him, they say he ran. The chase moved on foot through the Eastview Mall property before deputies caught him near Target.
Deputies took Belman to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office Substation. Authorities later released him on an appearance ticket.
Belman will appear in Victor Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
