Hobart hockey delivered a commanding performance Friday night, defeating Morrisville 9-0 in a SUNYAC matchup at the Morrisville IcePlex while extending its winning streak to 28 games and unbeaten streak to 35.
Nine different players scored for the top-ranked Statesmen (22-0-0, 15-0-0), who also clinched the SUNYAC regular-season title and secured home-ice advantage for the conference tournament. Bauer Morrissey led the offense with a goal and two assists, while six additional players recorded multi-point games. Goaltender Mavrick Goyer made 15 saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season.
Hobart set the tone early, scoring three first-period goals, including Brandon Sacchetti’s opener less than three minutes into the contest and Morrissey’s power-play tally later in the frame. The Statesmen continued to build their lead in the second period with short-handed and power-play goals, then added four more goals in the third to complete the rout.
The offensive surge was supported by a dominant statistical performance, as Hobart outshot Morrisville 85-15 and converted four of seven power-play opportunities while limiting the Mustangs to 0-for-2 with the extra attacker. Morrisville goaltender Chad Lowe made 76 saves in the loss.
The nine goals marked Hobart’s highest scoring output of the season as the Statesmen improved to 22-0-0 overall.
Hobart returns to action Saturday, February 14, traveling to Cortland for a 7 p.m. conference matchup.
