Walworth board moves subdivision forward, delays solar project, and tables Windward

The Walworth Planning Board recertified a previously approved three-lot subdivision on Mildahn Road and approved a special use permit during a brief meeting Feb. 9 at Town Hall.

The board first held a public hearing on an application from Michael Callarama for recertification of a subdivision and site plan on a vacant lot on Mildahn Road. The property is zoned residential with a daycare overlay.

Project engineer Don Lewis told the board the subdivision was originally approved in 2023 as a five-lot plan, but was later reduced to three lots after sewer installation proved cost-prohibitive. Septic systems were approved for each lot instead.

Lewis said the subdivision had already been filed, but updated signatures were needed because more than a year had passed since site plan approval. He said one lot is under contract and another buyer has agreed to purchase the remaining two.

Board members briefly revisited the driveway configuration for one of the lots, questioning whether its location could be adjusted. Lewis said the driveway placement is tied to the approved septic locations and grading constraints, noting the lots were challenging due to topography.

With no public comment, the board closed the hearing and approved the site plan recertification by roll call vote.

Special use permit approved in hamlet zone

The board also opened and closed a public hearing on a special use permit application from Donna Salatino for property at 3816 West Walworth Road, located in the hamlet zoning district.

No members of the public spoke, and the applicant was not present. The board approved the special use permit with conditions as written in the resolution.

Solar review pushed to next month

An application from WO Walworth Solar LLC for site plan and special use permit approval at 5325 Walworth-Ontario Road was not considered. Board officials said the proposal did not reach Wayne County for review in time and will return next month.

A public hearing was opened on a subdivision and site plan proposal from Windward Lake Homes LLC at 1 Country Club Drive, but the application had been tabled at the applicant’s request.

No action was taken, and the hearing was adjourned until further information is provided.

The meeting adjourned shortly after 7 p.m.
