Man charged after lab confirms cocaine in prior Galen DWI investigation

GALEN — A 76-year-old Greece man was charged after laboratory results confirmed a substance seized during a prior DWI investigation tested positive for cocaine, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Michael G. Vigelette following the return of lab results connected to an earlier traffic stop in the Town of Galen. During that earlier investigation, authorities determined Vigelette was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and allegedly found him in possession of two baggies containing a white, rock-like substance.

Subsequent testing confirmed the substance was cocaine, officials said. Vigelette was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said Vigelette was processed at the Wayne County Jail and later released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Galen Court at a later date.

The investigation was led by Deputy M. King, according to the sheriff’s office.
